The Peripheral Visions Co-Lab is hiring an RA with Skills in Primary School Curriculum and Classroom Teaching

Position supervisors:  Dolleen Manning (Queens) and Mary Bunch (York)

Contract length: 2 months (March 26, 2025 – May 26, 2025)
Hours of work: 60
Rate of pay:  $30-$40 per hour depending on level of study and qualifications

 

About the Project:

Our  lab is conducting a comprehensive evaluation of an on-reserve primary school using an Indigenous Evaluation framework. 

We are looking for a self-directed and highly competent Research Assistant or Research Associate with experience as a primary school teacher and knowledge of Ontario's primary school curriculum, and classroom teaching experience. Retired teachers with recent experience with the Ontario curriculum are also encouraged to apply. Understanding Indigenous education and on-reserve education is an asset.

The school is located in Lambton county in Southwestern Ontario. Some work is on site, some is remote.

Responsibilities

Assist with a community Education Forum

Develop a rubric for classroom visits

Conduct classroom visits and evaluate classroom teaching

Collect resources related to school curriculum, lessons plans and teaching materials

Report findings on classroom visits

Review and analyze the school's curriculum and special Ed program

Review and analyze sample lesson plans and teaching materials

Report findings in written form and as a presentation to the project directors

Qualifications

·      Graduate or graduate student in Education, PhD candidate preferred

·      Good understanding of Ontario Primary School Curriculum 

·      Primary School Teaching Experience

·      Strong oral and written communication

·      Strong writing skills, including experience drafting and revising reports an asset

·      Knowledge of Indigenous education, issues facing reserve schools an asset

·      School evaluation experience an asset
